No. 6 Michigan tops fifth-ranked Indiana 65-50
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - Naz Hillmon scored 21 points, Emily Kiser grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds and No. 6 Michigan beat fifth-ranked Indiana 65-50 on Monday night for its second win over a top-five opponent this season.
Michigan scored the opening nine points of the game and never trailed to knock the Hoosiers out of sole possession of first place in the Big Ten Conference. The Wolverines had never beaten a top-five team at home, but did win at then-No. 5 Baylor in overtime on December 19.
The Wolverines held Indiana to just six points in the third quarter and their lead grew to as many as 16 in the fourth. Indiana pulled within 59-50 with 3:09 left but missed its final four shots as its nine-game winning streak came to an end.
Leigha Brown and Laila Phelia each added 11 points for Michigan (19-2, 10-1 Big Ten). The Wolverines battled turnover issues with 25, but used a 52-20 advantage on the glass for 14 second-chance points.
Nicole Cardano-Hillary had 16 points and eight steals for Indiana (14-3, 6-1).
No 7 TENNESSEE 86, ARKANSAS 83, OT
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Jordan Horston scored 24 points, including the last three in overtime, to lead Tennessee in a come-from-behind victory over Arkansas.
The Lady Volunteers (19-2, 7-1 Southeastern Conference) trailed by as many as 13 points in the third quarter before recovering. Rae Burrell added 21 points, including the 3-pointer that gave Tennessee its first lead, 63-61, with 7:46 left in the fourth quarter. Tamari Key scored 11 of her 14 points in the fourth quarter and overtime. Sara Puckett had 10.
Amber Ramirez scored 29 points to lead the Razorbacks (14-7, 4-4). Samara Spencer had 17, Jersey Wolfenbarger scored 13 and Sasha Goforth 10.
No. 23 OHIO STATE 92, No. 21 IOWA 88
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - Taylor Mikesell scored 24 points, Jacy Sheldon had 18 and Ohio State outlasted Iowa.
Iowa's Caitlin Clark scored 43 points, one shy of her career high, but missed a 3-pointer that could have tied the score in the final minute. She made seven 3-pointers and also had seven assists and seven turnovers. Monika Czinano had 23 points, making 11 of 13 shots, and grabbed nine rebounds for the Hawkeyes (14-5, 8-2 Big Ten).
Rebeka Mikulasikova scored 17 points for Ohio State (16-4, 8-3) and Braxtin Miller had 10 points.
