Look at the numbers on voter suppression

In "Republicans are pushing back on the Democratic "Big Lie,'" Bryon York seems disingenuous regarding his claim that "Democrats have used the unsupported notion of widespread voter suppression as the foundation for two bills …." Perhaps Mr. York should conduct a little research regarding voter suppression.

The Brennan Center for Justice, in an Oct. 21, 2021, report, notes that 19 states enacted legislation to restrict voting. Of these 19 states, 17 are "red" states and two are "blue" states. Within the 17 "red" states, there were multiple examples of enacting voting restrictions, with Iowa, Texas and Florida leading those efforts.

They also reported that 25 states enacted expansive legislation. Of those, seven were "red" states and eighteen were "blue" states.

Thus, the nuanced question is what is an "unsupported notion" and a "Big Lie?" Seventeen "red" states enacting voting restrictions is not an "unsupported notion," nor a "Big Lie." Even if a nuanced question, Mr. York's opinion appears to ignore relevant facts, thus being a biased position.
