St. Charles appoints new director of finance

The St. Charles City Council unanimously approved the appointment of William Hannah as director of finance at its Jan. 3 meeting. His appointment is effective Jan. 31.

Hannah had served as the North Aurora finance director/treasurer for more than 15 years. He was responsible for the planning, directing, and execution of all financial operations including budget development and long-term financial planning, auditing and financial reporting, debt evaluation and issuance, and cash management and investing. He also served as village treasurer and liaison to the North Aurora Police Pension Fund.

"Bill brings solid experience leading a municipal finance department," City Administrator Heather McGuire said. "He has a proven track record of successful financial management and is the perfect candidate to continue the city's long-standing tradition of fiscal responsibility. And the fact that he is a 14-year resident of St. Charles assures a smooth transition."

Hannah holds a master's degree in public administration from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Benedictine College in Lisle. He is past president and executive board member of the Illinois Government Finance Association.
