Rep. Morrison asking students to write cards to seniors on Valentine's Day
For his final Valentine's Day as representative of Illinois' 54th District, Republican Tom Morrison of Palatine is asking local students to send love to seniors who are potentially experiencing ongoing isolation during the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As he did last year, Morrison is requesting students to write a Valentine's Day card - either handmade or store-bought - and send it to his office at 117 E. Palatine Road, Suite 106, Palatine, by Feb. 4 so that it can be among those being hand-delivered to senior homes in the 54th District.
"Last year's Valentine's Day program was a huge success," Morrison said. "I am excited to again help put a smile on some faces this year with the help of our young students. The cards are a small gesture, but go a long way in helping our senior citizens, who still are navigating the tough times of the pandemic."
Potential participants with questions can contact Morrison's office at (847) 202-6584.
Morrison announced this week that he will not seek reelection, after 11 years representing the 54th District. The redrawing of legislative districts will put his neighborhood into the 51st District represented by fellow Republican Chris Bos of Lake Zurich.
During the past decade of Morrison's service, the 54th District has included parts of Palatine, Inverness, Rolling Meadows, Hoffman Estates, Arlington Heights, Barrington and Schaumburg.
"I'm very grateful to our residents for entrusting me with this position," Morrison said in a statement.
