Watching a legend

My fondest memory of Arlington Park took place on June 30, 1973 when I saw Secretariat win the Arlington Invitational. Secretariat under jockey Ron Turcotte won the race by nine lengths before a crowd of 41,223. The next day in the Chicago Tribune, Neil Milbert wrote, "Maybe someday - when war is passe and peace on earth a fact of life - Chicago will see another Secretariat." He couldn't have been more right. We won't see another horse like Secretariat at Arlington Park. We may not see any thoroughbreds racing there ever again, although I hope that is not the case.
