The Miracle Million

One of my fondest memories of Arlington was attending the Miracle Million. My daughter had been working the backside for our trainer at the time of the fire. We rushed up fearing that the barns were burning. Thankfully not, but we were saddened to see the grandstand go down. How they staged that Million truly was a miracle.

Then I started to work in Guest Services in 1989 when the new building opened. During my many years there, I enjoyed educating the public about racing. Trips down to the paddock with groups was one of my favorite jobs. Over the years talking with "Old Timers" about past trainers and horses added to the joy I had working there.

We had a very classy group of ladies in sales and on Million Day, they were dressed to the nines, as were our guests, who filled the party rooms on the clubhouse side.

Million Day was always filled with excitement and anticipation.
