Waukegan man shot while sitting in car

Waukegan police are investigating the shooting of resident Monday afternoon.

Officers responded about 1:45 p.m. to the area of Greenwood Avenue and Linden Avenue, according to a new release.

A Waukegan man in his 20s had been shot while in the driver's seat of a parked 2007 black Lincoln sedan. He was taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries

A 17-year-old boy was in the passenger's seat and suffered a superficial wound. The teen went on his own to the hospital.

Waukegan police recovered shell casings but are not releasing the caliber or number recovered.
