Bail set for Carol Stream man accused of firing into home
Bail was set at $250,000 Monday for an 18-year-old man accused of firing several times into a Carol Stream home.
Jimmy Calan, of the 600 block of Burns Street in Carol Stream, must post $25,000 to be released pending trial.
On Sunday, Calan and an Aurora juvenile threw a rock at the sliding glass door of a home on the 600 block of Willow Wood, according to a news release from the DuPage County state's attorney's office. When the resident opened the door, Calan and the juvenile opened fire, then fled, the news release said.
Both suspects later were located in Glendale Heights. The juvenile was taken into custody after a brief chase, and a 9 mm handgun was found about two feet away from him, authorities said.
Calan is facing felony charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. The juvenile has been charged with felony aggravated discharge of a firearm, felony possession of a stolen firearm and one count possession of a firearm by someone younger than 18.
Calan's arraignment is set for Jan. 13. The juvenile's next court date is Dec. 29.
