Elmhurst police investigating report of shots fired
Elmhurst police are investigating an early morning Friday shooting on the 300 block of North Elm Avenue.
Police said a resident on the 400 block of Emery Lane reported seeing a man of medium build wearing dark clothing and a hood over his head walking around a car in the driveway at 12:30 a.m.
The resident told police the man jumped into a waiting late-model black BMW or Mercedes-Benz SUV and fled.
Police said the resident, discovering his glovebox open, entered his car and began to follow the SUV.
On the 300 block of Elm, a passenger in the SUV fired fives shots at the resident's car. The SUV was last seen heading south on Elm.
