Shepherd's Tyson Bagent named top player in Division II

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Shepherd quarterback Tyson Bagent on Friday was named the winner of the Harlon Hill Trophy, given to the top player in Division II.

Bagent completed 391 of 579 passes (64%) for 5,000 yards and 53 touchdowns in leading Shepherd to a 13-2 record. The Rams advanced to the Division II semifinals before losing to Ferris State.

Nebraska-Kearney quarterback T.J. Davis finished second in the voting, followed by Northwest Missouri State running back Al McKeller.

The award was announced in Arkansas by the Little Rock Touchdown Club, which will hold an awards banquet on Jan. 14.
