Women at Aurora City Hall find inspiration, support at Forbes Power Women's Summit

Forbes Magazine hosted its annual Power Women's Summit, where tens of thousands of women across the world joined the Dec. 9 virtual event to hear from a powerful collection of innovative and visionary women on the front lines of progress.

This year, part of the global audience was a group of women employees at Aurora City Hall who hosted a watch party with group discussions for the empowering event.

"We are hoping that today's event not only gets you fired up because of the synergy in the room, but fired up as an individual, fired up as a women who works here at the City of Aurora, and fired up for your purpose here and outside of here," Katrina Boatright of the Aurora Mayor's Office of Community Affairs told the group of nearly 50 employees.

The event was sponsored by the four Alderwomen on the Aurora City Hall, who spoke to the attendees and expressed their continued support in developing more women in leadership positions at city hall and in the community.

The Power Women's Summit featured more than a dozen speakers who shared their stories, including trailblazers like Indra Nooyi, former chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, and award-winning filmmaker, director and producer Ava Duvernay, who explained to the viewers what true power means to her.

The women at Aurora City Hall took detailed notes and engaged in inspiring and emotional discussions about being a woman in the workplace, balancing life at home, breaking through glass ceilings, and the need to support each other more.

There were additional giveaways, lunch, and networking opportunities for a group of ladies who have a shared workspace and now also share a deeper bond with each other.
