Bensenville distributes over 2,000 toys to families during 51st annual drive

On Saturday, Dec. 4, Bensenville village staff, elected officials, and their families distributed over 2,000 new toys to Bensenville families in need as part of their annual toy drive.

With safety remaining a top priority, distribution took place at the Bensenville Public Works facility in a drive-through format.

This is the village's 51st annual toy drive.

Collections for the event began in the fall and provided funds to purchase new toys for Bensenville families.

Donations were made online through the Bensenville Community Foundation website and at the village hall.

The village works closely with Bensenville Elementary District 2 to invite families into the program.

Bags full of toys were prepared earlier in the week by village staff and safely placed in the family's vehicles during the event.

"The toy drive is an important tradition to the Village of Bensenville. Through donations from the community and the hard work of volunteers, we can ensure that every child in Bensenville is able to smile this holiday season," said Village President Frank DeSimone. "Personally, being able to participate in this event every year reiterates the old saying, 'It's better to give than to receive'."

The village especially thanks Century Metal Spinning, Larry Roesch Volkswagen, Victory Auto Wreckers, the Bensenville Chamber of Commerce, DuKane Chapter of ABATE, and the Teamster Horsemen Chapter 25 for their substantial donations toward this initiative.

Tax-deductible donations for next year's toy drive can be made online by visiting www.bensenvillefoundation.org.
