Vets can get flu shots or enrollment help Friday in Elgin

Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital's Community Outreach Team will offer flu vaccinations and blood pressure checks and enroll interested veterans into VA health care on Friday at the Elgin American Legion Post 57, 820 N. Liberty St.

The outreach team will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring a copy of the DD-214 and a photo ID.

All area veterans are welcome to attend and meet with a Hines enrollment coordinator. VA health care is not required for veterans to receive a flu vaccination or blood pressure check.

"This is a great opportunity for Elgin-area veterans to learn more about the benefits and resources offered through VA," said Patrick Grimes, Hines VA's outreach coordinator leading Friday's event. "Hines wants to help our fellow veterans access the resources and care they earned through their service."
