Motorola Solutions acquires 911 location services provider
CHICAGO - Motorola Solutions Thursday said it has acquired 911 Datamaster Inc., a 911 location services provider based in Overland Park, Kansas.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
911 Datamaster's suite of location solutions helps ensure emergency calls are accurately located and routed based on the caller's location, enabling a faster response from police and fire personnel. Location services are essential given an estimated 240 million calls are made to 911 in the U.S. each year, and in most areas, 80% or more are from wireless devices with no fixed location, Motorola said.
