Still disgusted
After almost a year since the Capitol invasion, I am still struggling with my initial disgust. As I watched those rioters break into the Capitol and the continued mayhem, I was struck by the complete lack of coherent response. After the National Guard and reinforcements arrived and pushed the crowd out of the buildings and onto the grounds, I waited in vain for dismissal lines to be formed to take down names and addresses of the perps.
Instead, I watched in amazement as they were allowed to just disperse. Now we, the taxpayers, are being billed millions in the efforts to find, apprehend, charge and try them. After which, the courts treat them as if they were jaywalkers, not insurrectionist. Not one sentence, to date, that is reflective of the extent of the crime.
To further my disgust, Congress sets up a Jan. 6 Commision and charges those who don't show up or refuse to talk with "contempt" but has yet to do so to the guy who told them to be contemptuous.
