Monarch Landing's Staff Appreciation Fund Drive collects over $157,000

It's an essential skill for showing kindness and caring, especially during the times of mask-wearing when smiles are covered. The sincere, heartfelt smile is one that reaches the smilers' eyes. This year, the smile was celebrated as Monarch Landing in Naperville had its Thank the Smiling Eyes Staff Appreciation Fund Drive.

Each year, the Naperville senior living community residents show their gratitude for the unfailing dedication, kindness, and care demonstrated by the staff.

Employees are not permitted to accept gratuities or gifts from residents or their families.

The Staff Appreciation Fund is the once-a-year opportunity to thank those who have kept residents healthy, safe, and engaged. It is entirely a resident-run program.

This year, the fundraising drive, which ended on Nov. 23, exceeded the goal as well as the record high.

Approximately $157,000 was collected and will be divided among the hourly employees. Over the next couple of weeks, the resident committee will write checks that will be delivered to the staff before the holidays.

The theme Thank the Smiling Eyes acknowledged the graciousness, kindness, and warmth of the wonderful employees of Monarch Landing.
