Curtain: The August Newspaper Movie of the Month

'The Tarnished Angels'

Rock Hudson plays newspaper reporter Burke Devlin (a name that also became a sinister soap opera character in the 1960s) in this 1957 adaptation of a 1935 William Faulkner novel. The movie revolves around Devlin's pursuit of a story about a Depression-era barnstorming pilot and war hero played by Robert Stack, and the tragedies that lie in wait. Dorothy Malone and Jack Carson also star. You can find it on DVD or Blu-Ray as well as some streaming services.
