'Foreign Correspondent'

Joel McCrea plays New York Morning Globe crime reporter John Jones in this Alfred Hitchcock spy thriller, written and produced in 1940 at the outset of World War II. The movie garnered Academy Award nominations for Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor and the cast included Laraine Day when she still was a teenager. Assigned to interview a foreign diplomat, Jones instead winds up trying to expose enemy spies.
