Waukegan Park District announces winners of the 2021 Turkey Trot

More than 50 individuals participated in the Waukegan Park District's 2021 Turkey Trot from 10-11 a.m. Nov. 13 at Waukegan's Greg Petry SportsPark, 3391 W. Beach Road.

Participants had the chance to compete in friendly races for a chance to win a turkey while helping others in the community through a canned food drive. Three bins of nonperishable food items to be donated to a local food pantry were filled with donations from participants.

Here are the female and male winners in each age group with participating runners:

• 8-10 years: Camryn Lowery

• 11-13 years: Alice Larsen

• 14-17 years: Diedre Lowery

• 18-23 years: Dalia Solano

• 40-49 years: Martha Sostre

• 50-59 years: Eusebia Fermin

• 60 years and older: Judy Holmes

• 13-23 months: Cree Jackson

• 2-3 years: Bo Lerner

• 4-5 years: Issac Horcher

• 6-7 years: Ezekiel Sostre

• 8-10 years: Bendicion Sostre

• 11-13 years: Jonathan Flores

• 14-17 years: Oscar Vazquez

• 24-29 years: Victor Solano

• 30-39 years: Melchor Orduna

• 40-49 years: Adrian Orduna

• 50-59 years: Salvador Orduna

• 60 years and older: Pat O'Keefe

Mark Peters was the winner of the 30-meter wheelchair slalom.

There was a wonderful celebration when Cree Jackson received his turkey for winning his race, as he is a stage 4 cancer survivor.

Vista Health System was the sponsor of the 2021 Turkey Trot.
