Kensington School of St. Charles celebrates 25th anniversary
Kensington School of St. Charles is celebrating its 25th anniversary of bringing innovation, curiosity and creativity in education to children in the St. Charles area.
The St. Charles school and its sister school in Geneva have been making a difference in the lives of young children since 1996.
Kensington School of St. Charles offers area children National Association for the Education of Young Children-accredited programming for children 6 weeks old through private kindergarten. The comprehensive curriculum includes language development, reading readiness, handwriting, math, geography, engineering, fine arts, physical development, and mindfulness.
Kensington's focus on teaching health and wellness to young children is of great importance and has been an integral part of the curriculum since 2018.
The Health and Wellness Program for Young Children was specifically developed by Kensington School and is taught by a certified nurse, also known as "Mrs. Health and Happiness," who conducts weekly lessons with children, ages 2 or older. The school nurse also supports the staff, children and families in the infant and toddler classes.
Kensington School of St. Charles is excited to welcome Jennifer Shepard, a nationally certified pediatric nurse and the school's new "Mrs. Health and Happiness."
"The Health and Wellness Program for Young Children is of the utmost importance and our wellness curriculum is a gentle introduction to leading a happy and healthy life," says Cassie Smith, area director, Kensington School. "We are so excited about the addition of Mrs. Shepard to our school community and look forward to her sharing her fabulous medical knowledge and wellness expertise to our children and staff."
Kensington School of St. Charles has expanded to meet the needs of the community over the last 25 years. The school features an outdoor math center, organic garden, tinkerlab, large play yard with a riding track, and a separate infant and toddler outdoor space. Kensington School of St. Charles is NAEYC accredited and has just received INCCRRA's ExceleRate Illinois Gold Circle of Quality.
"Each day I drop my children off at Kensington, I know they are safe and loved, challenged and nurtured, and, perhaps most importantly, learning to be good people," said St. Charles' parent Kate Puetz.
