Get up close and personal with dinosaurs and dragons

Dino & Dragon Stroll, a new touring event produced by CV Events, is coming to Grayslake for the first time.

The tour lets visitors walk through and get up close to lifelike and life-size dinosaurs and dragons. The dinosaurs and dragons are massive, some standing more than 28 feet tall and spanning more than 60 feet long. They are produced with advanced animatronic and sound technology that brings these creatures to life.

On Dec. 4 and 5, Dino & Dragon Stroll will transform the Lake County Fairgrounds & Event Center into the Mesozoic Era with prehistoric dinosaurs from the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods, and some fantastical dragons throughout. Creatures feature moving heads, necks, tails and wings; blinking eyes; mouths that open and close; breathing movements; synchronized sounds; roars; and other details that make them look alive.

Dino & Dragon Stroll is an interactive event. While guests stroll at their own pace, they can get up close to dinosaurs throughout the exhibit, ranging from babies to adults, including encounters with a T. rex, velociraptor and stegosaurus, just to name a few.

Guests can also get up close and personal with a selection of large, serpentine, winged, horned and legendary fire breathing dragons.

With every stop on their North American tour, Dino & Dragon Stroll teams up with a local food bank or pantry as part of their "Stomp Out Hunger" initiative to help those struggling within each local community. Guests are encouraged to bring items to the event to donate.

There will be collection bins located at the front entrance of the stroll. All collected food items will then be donated to Lord of Glory Church & Food Pantry, which helps children and families in the Grayslake area facing hunger and food insecurities.

Timed tickets are available with entry every half-hour from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5. The Lake County Fairgrounds & Event Center is at 1060 E. Peterson Road, Grayslake.

Tickets are $24.99 each (additional service fees apply). Admission is free for children younger than 2 and military and veterans with ID. Tickets are available online for advance purchase only.
