A dark day for justice
No one would have died by gunshot in Kenosha if no one would have been permitted to come to the demonstration with guns.
No one would have died in Kenosha by gunshot if the police, rather than welcoming vigilantes such as Kyle Rittenhouse, had instead told them to go home and leave public protection to law enforcement.
No one would have died in Kenosha if the Second Amendment would be interpreted today in the context of the original authors. If alive today, authors of the Second Amendment would shake their heads at Kyle Rittenhouse and insist he should never have been there with such a deadly weapon.
If African Americans had been walking around in Kenosha with AR-15 rifles, they would have been shot by both vigilantes and law enforcement as a threat to peace.
A dark day in America. I only hope that Kyle Rittenhouse will reflect on how he can redeem his life by committing himself to fostering peace, instead of death. However, I'm not convinced that he will have learned much of anything. AR-15-toting people come away learning they can get away with pretty much anything in Wisconsin.
Remember the old adage: just because it's legal doesn't make it right.
