Vernon Hills Burlington store donates $5,000 to District 73

Hawthorn School District 73 recently announced it has received a $5,000 donation for the Hawthorn School of Dual Language from Burlington Stores in celebration of its new store opening in Vernon Hills.

The donation was made through Burlington's partnership with the national nonprofit organization AdoptAClassroom.org.

A representative from AdoptAClassroom.org contacted school administrators and helped to secure the donation for Hawthorn School of Dual Language, which will provide new supplies for each teacher's classroom.

According to Hawthorn School of Dual Language Principal Nicole Rodrigo, the teachers will use the funds on various new classroom items.

"On behalf of Hawthorn School of Dual Language, I would like to welcome our new local Burlington store and thank them and AdoptAClassroom.org for their generous donation to our school," said Rodrigo.

"Our teachers are so excited to purchase additional tools for their classrooms this year. We are thankful for the support we received from Burlington and AdoptAClassroom.org."

Each time Burlington opens a new store, Burlington celebrates by adopting and funding a local elementary school in their store community.

The new Burlington store is at 701 N. Milwaukee Ave., Suite 300, Vernon Hills.
