Lombard's Jingle Bell Jubilee opens Holiday Lights display Dec. 4

Lombard Park District kicks off its monthlong holiday festivities with the annual Jingle Bell Jubilee event on Saturday, Dec. 4, in Lilacia Park, 150 S. Park Ave.

Enjoy the lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. followed by a visit from Santa Claus, hot chocolate, cookies, giveaways and more.

Enjoy the Canterbury Carollers from 6 to 7 p.m. to put you in the holiday spirit as you take a tour through time back to 1882. From 7 to 8 p.m., listen to local orchestra members play holiday songs.

The Lombard Historical Society will offer tours of the Victorian Cottage beginning at 5:45 p.m. Tours are free Dec. 4, however tickets are required and can be picked up in the Carriage House. Tours are every 15 minutes until 8:45 p.m. Tours are limited to 12 per group.

The Victorian Cottage tours continue on Dec. 10-11, 17-18, and 23. Cost is $5 or free for age 12 or younger; tickets are required at www.lombardhistory.org/victoriancottage. The 45-minute tours leave on the hour: 1, 2 and 3 p.m.

Holiday Lights

Each weekend throughout the month of December, visit Lilacia Park's Holiday Lights as children can visit with Santa Claus and their favorite holiday characters, and enjoy a spectacular show with complimentary hot cocoa and cookies.

The holiday display continues each night through Jan. 2. Charming holiday displays illuminate the park s from 4:30 to 10 p.m. each night with magical light shows, tree decorations, a gingerbread house and more. New this year, visitors are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy for donation.

Stop by for free visits with Santa and a magical Elf hunt from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5; and Fridays, Dec. 10 and 17.

On Saturday, Dec. 11, there also will be free visits with Santa, Rudolph and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. All participants will receive their very own Rudolph red nose when they visit Rudolph!

Mrs. Claus will be making free visits with Santa from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12.

On Saturday, Dec. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m., join in free visits with Santa with caroling and s'mores around the fire.

It will be Polar Express Night in Lilacia Park on Sunday, Dec. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. Every participant will receive their very own bell when they visit with Santa.

Jingles' Holiday House

A favorite event from 2020 is coming back, Jingles' Holiday House Decorating Contest!

Houses participating will be added to the Holiday Lights Map, so families can drive around town and take in the sights of the holidays!

The community will vote on houses entered in the contest and winning houses will receive a prize.

A downloadable map will be live at lombardparks.com beginning Friday, Dec. 3. Participating houses must have their lights turned on each night beginning at 4:30 p.m. for the duration of the contest. The winners will be announced Dec. 20.
