Caruso a casualty of aggressive style, sits out with wrist injury

The Bulls' scrambling style of play is bound to result in some injuries, and Alex Caruso missed Monday's game with a bruised left wrist. It was the first missed game this season for Caruso, Lonzo Ball, Zach LaVine or DeMar DeRozan.

"It happened when we were out West, I don't know what game it was," coach Billy Donovan said before the game. "I think what really set it over the edge for him last night was the charge he took. I think going back and landing, putting his hand down, caused a problem. It's been something that has been lingering and I think yesterday kind of really created more problems for him.

"Right now it does not look like it's something long term. I'm sure they'll do X-rays, MRIs, all those kind of things on him and probably have more of an update, but I just kind of found out he was out."

Donovan opted to put Coby White in the starting lineup in place of Caruso and keep Javonte Green with the second unit.

Center Nikola Vucevic, who missed his seventh game Monday after a positive COVID test, continues to get back in shape and he was at Sunday's game. Donovan wasn't sure if Vucevic will travel with the team to Houston for a game Wednesday.

"He was in the locker room at halftime and then after the game and seems to be doing well," Donovan said. "He was in the gym this morning doing some stuff. Obviously being away for 10 or 11 days and feeling probably not great, it will probably take him a little bit of time to not only get his wind back, but his rhythm back as well."
