Washing and brainwashing
Sen. Cruz thinks that Big Bird was brainwashing children when he comforted them in saying that he got the COVID shot and that it wasn't so bad after all. The senator is afraid that thanks to Big Bird, the kids will now begin to harangue their reluctant parents to get them the shot, too. To encourage them to bathe, Mr. Rogers used to sing to his young viewers not to be afraid, demonstrating that they could not go down the drain. Did Sen. Cruz object to this because children would as a result begin to demand of their parents that they take baths?
