Arlington Heights police, fire conducting toy and winter coat drives

The Arlington Heights Fire Department was presented with a plaque this week from Chicagoland Toys for Tots, for the department's ongoing support and involvement in holiday toy drives.

The department continues to be one of the main donation centers and contributors of toys to the toy drive each year, officials said.

Both the Arlington Heights police and fire departments are hosting toy drives this year.

The police department's Toys for Tots campaign runs through Dec. 4. New, unwrapped toys can be brought to the police station, 200 E. Sigwalt St., or village hall, 33 S. Arlington Heights Road.

The fire department's toy and coat drive runs through Dec. 21. Over the past eight years, the department has collected nearly 4,000 coats for donation to people in need.

Toys and new or gently used coats may be donated at the following locations: Station 1, 300 E. Sigwalt St.; Station 2, 1150 N. Arlington Heights Road; Station 3, 2000 S. Arlington Heights Road; and Station 4, 3030 N. Arlington Heights Road.
