Arres sworn in as Naperville police chief
Jason Arres was sworn in Wednesday as Naperville's new police chief, a position he's held in an interim role since Bob Marshall retired in July.
Arres, a 20-year veteran of the Naperville Police Department, becomes the 11th police chief in the city's history.
"Becoming a chief was a goal I had set for myself from Day 1," Arres said. "I knew it was a daunting challenge, but one I wanted to take on. However, I wanted to do it the right way. I wanted to earn it by putting in the work, gaining the necessary experience and fostering relationships within the community."
Arres began his career with Naperville as a patrol officer in 2001. After serving in multiple departments, Arres was promoted to deputy chief in 2017 and led the investigations and patrol divisions.
