Lake Villa man dies in one-car crash on Route 83

A 23-year-old man died Sunday night in a single-vehicle crash on Route 83 in Lake Villa, authorities said Tuesday.

Brandon Holmgren of Lake Villa died as a result of blunt force injuries, according to Chief Deputy Steve Newton of the Lake County coroner's office.

Authorities say Lake Villa police and firefighters responded shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday to the crash on the 37000 block of North Route 83. Holmgren was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner's office.

The coroner's office, Lake Villa police and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team continue to investigate.
