Festival at Heron Creek in Long Grove celebrates open space

The Green Corridor Coalition is hosting a family-friendly fall festival to celebrate open space from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Heron Creek Forest Preserve, 22890 N. Old McHenry Road, Long Grove.

The Open Space Celebration includes pumpkin composting and a pumpkin painting contest, live music, free food, apple cider, hot chocolate and snacks, arts and crafts for children, a photo contest with cash prizes and presentations by local activists regarding land conservation. The Green Corridor Coalition includes the Audubon Society, Sierra Club, Midwest Sustainability Group and others who promote and support a green environment.
