Thousands of Aurora residents participate in Halloween Drive-Thru

It was all about the 4 Cs as Aurora celebrated Halloween - children, candy, costumes, and cars!

And the cars lined up for nearly a half-mile an hour before the start of Aurora's second annual Halloween Drive-Thru at Phillips Park.

The cars were filled with children of all ages who came dressed up in costumes of all styles to collect candy of all kinds.

They were greeted by Mayor Richard C. Irvin, who was dressed as a Crayola crayons box, and city officials dressed in various colors of crayons.

The mayor wanted to emphasize the importance of diversity, unity, and coming together as one community to color the future of Aurora.

Just over 2,000 cars filled with more than 4,500 people participated in this year's Halloween Drive-Thru.

The drive-through began last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic but just might become a lasting Halloween tradition in the state's second-largest city.
