Korean center offers real 'Squid Games' in day of family fun

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - The Korean Cultural Center of Chicago is offering a day of 'œSquid Games'ť promoting family fun over the dangerous drama portray on a television streaming service series.

The event will be Nov. 6 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Korean Cultural Center in Wheeling.

The cultural center says Squid Games are a unique cultural event from Korea's past. The day involves 120 preregistered participants who will be divided into six groups of 20 to play a total of six games.

Games situated at separate stations include "Squid Game," 'œDalgona candy,'ť 'œMarbles,'ť 'œDdakji game,'ť 'œTug of War'ť and 'œRed light Green light.'ť

Korean snacks will be presented as prizes to winners of each game as well as the overall winner.

The Netflix series 'œSquid Games'ť portrays contestants facing deadly stakes in games to win fantastic prizes.

But a statement from the Korean Cultural Center says, 'œIn reality these games are children's games and this event aims to show the original method of games where the entire family can enjoy a festive atmosphere.'ť
