Winfield Riverwalk Park opens its first phase

Riverwalk Park in Winfield officially opened its first phase this week with a Tuesday ribbon-cutting.

The park is located on High Lake Road in Winfield Town Center and began in 2018 as part of a collaboration among multiple groups. In addition to a donation of land from Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital, the project was made possible thanks to a matching grant from the state.

Amenities in the project's first phase include new trails, bike repair and fitness stations, open space with wetland restoration, a new pollinator garden and access points for fishing. The Knights of Columbus also sponsored a new picnic shelter pavilion.
