Chicago, best in U.S.
The Chicago region is the best area in which to live in the U.S. for the 21st century.
Life depends upon two necessities water and weather. Food is the product of these two. Fresh water is becoming the "oil of the 21st century." Lake Michigan represents the largest volume of fresh water totally within the United States.
Warmer temperatures are being reported around the U.S. and world. Whether the warming is due to earth's occupants or due to long term cycles is open to discussion; I believe it is both contributors.
As the oceans rise and hurricanes intensify each year, beachfront property is becoming less attractive.
Based upon personal discussions with officials of several "Sun Belt" cities, long term fresh water availability is not publicly discussed. As time passes, our winters will become less severe and fresh water more valuable.
I was born in Chicago and I am proud of the region.
