Putting the concept of 'trillions' in context

With all the talk about a $3.5 trillion domestic agenda, I would like to take the opportunity to make the comparison between millions and trillions.

• A million seconds equals 12 days.

• A billion seconds equals 31 years.

• A trillion seconds equals 31,688 years.

Please keep this comparison in mind as our politicians throw the word trillion around like it is nothing.
