Downers Grove man injured in I-290 shooting

A 55-year-old Downers Grove man was injured in a shooting Wednesday night on Interstate 290.

The shooting occurred on the westbound expressway near Kedzie Avenue in Chicago at 10:34 p.m., according to a news release from the Illinois State Police.

The victim was taken to the hospital, and his injuries weren't life-threatening, the police said. His passenger, a 22-year-old from Woodridge, wasn't injured.

All westbound lanes of Interstate 290 were closed at 11 p.m. so police could investigate the case, the news release said. The lanes were reopened around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.
