Boys golf: Barrington, Conant shine at regionals
Barrington's boys golf team rolled to its own Class 3A regional championship Wednesday at Makray Memorial.
Led by a medalist round of 76 from Drew Schauenberg, the Broncos shot a 309. Huntley was second at 343 and Jacobs third at 351.
Brock Dickson (77), William Lange (78) and Dylan Dunne (78) also scored for Barrington, which advanced to next Monday's Buffalo Grove sectional.
Addison Trail regional:
At The Preserve at Oak Meadows, Conant's Nicolas Simon had a 77 and won a three-way playoff for medalist honors as the Cougars nabbed the regional title with a 332. Lake Park was second with a 335 and York third at 337. They advance to the Lyons sectional at Prairie Bluff in Lockport next Monday.
Simon won his playoff over Frank Lesner of Rolling Meadows and Josh Lahner of Lake Park.
Aashir Patel (82), Blake Smith (86) and Armen Galovich (87) also shot counting scores for Conant.
Rolling Meadows was fourth with a 340, Schaumburg fifth with a 341 and Elk Grove sixth at 350.
Vassilios Davis (82) led Schaumburg and Nick Lamberg had a 79 to pace Elk Grove.
Wheaton Academy regional:
St. Viator shot a 317 to finish fourth at the Class 2A regional at Phillips Park in Aurora. Benet won with a 297, St. Francis was second with 306 and Wheaton Academy third at 310.
Freshman Ryan Kalaway had a 75 to lead St. Viator. Grayson Dossett shot a 79 for the Lions.
