Pottawatomie Garden Club spruces up downtown St. Charles with fall flowers

On Wednesday, Sept. 15, members of the Pottawatomie Garden Club planted fall flowers in downtown St. Charles.

This is one of the projects that the members participate in twice a year to beautify the downtown area.

Since 1928, the members of Pottawatomie Garden Club have made St. Charles a more beautiful community. Club members plant flowers on the Main Street and Illinois bridges, and around the Municipal building each spring and fall. They also honor past members with the Memorial Tree Program; and the club presents an annual Landscape Commendation Award to businesses in St. Charles Township.

The club also awards annual scholarships to horticulture students and provides support to gardening and environmental projects in the community.

The club meets on the fourth Monday of the month, from March to October, at Baker Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Charles. The final meeting of the season will recognize new members and honorary members, as well as electing new officers.
