Facts vs. fixations
In the Sept. 17 Daily Herald, a letter to the editor stated, "To millions of Americans, this election integrity issue will never go away," referring to the 2020 presidential election.
Recounts and court cases have shown conclusively that fraud was virtually nonexistent. This demonstrates the impossibility of proving a negative. People have claimed that the moon is made of green cheese. Just because the limited exploration of the moon uncovered no green cheese only means we have not found it yet.
There are a number of people who refuse to get vaccinated against COVID-19 because these vaccines have not been studied over a long enough period of time, so there could be long-term negative effects. We do know, however, the short-term effect of death from COVID and that won't change.
Perhaps it is impossible for facts and logic to overcome dedicated avoidance of facts and fixations.
