Hindu deity to be celebrated at Ganesha festival in Buffalo Grove's Willow Stream Park
A Buffalo Grove business will be holding a public Ganesha Festival Celebration from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, in Willow Stream Park, 651 Old Checker Road.
The free event will celebrate the Hindu deity Lord Ganesha, a god of wisdom and knowledge. The deity is represented having an elephant head on a human body.
"It is all about education and learning and having a peaceful life," said Archana Bhide, one of the owners of Pantomath, a Palatine-based tutoring firm (pantomath.us) aimed at K-12 students.
Bhide said she and her husband, Andy Bhide, plan to open a second branch in their Buffalo Grove home.
She said, "This year, we thought that we would like to involve the community in this festival, because Lord Ganesha is not just related to religious or spiritual things."
The celebration will involve four competitions, including a singing competition, a dance competition, a cooking competition, and a Play Doh competition giving contestants the opportunity to create their own Ganesha figure,
Located at 125 W. Colfax St. in Palatine, Pantomath teaches English, math and science, coding and programming as well as piano, guitar and voice.
