State police: Motorist shot, wounded on I-57 in Markham

MARKHAM, Ill. (AP) - A motorist has been shot and wounded on a Chicago-area freeway.

The woman was shot in the lower back early Thursday morning on Interstate 57 in Markham, state police said.

She was able to drive herself to a hospital. Her wound was not considered life-threatening, police said.

No arrests were reported.

The northbound lanes of I-57 at 159th Street temporarily were closed.
