Original artwork offered as an NFT at Night to End Hunger Auction

Loaves & Fishes Community Services will host Night to End Hunger at Medinah Country Club on Saturday, Sept. 18.

The organization invites the public to participate in the auction at loaves21.givesmart.com. The auction will raise funds in support of those who face hunger and financial crisis and is available beginning September 9.

One of the most unique items being offered in the auction is an NFT (non-fungible token). It is believed that Loaves & Fishes is the first nonprofit in the area to offer an NFT. An NFT is a unique digital blockchain that represents real-world objects and collectibles like art, music, and videos. This emerging form of ownership has been popular at premiere auction houses such as Christie's and Sotheby's, and now, an individual has the opportunity to acquire an NFT with ties to our community. The Loaves & Fishes NFT is a poignant photo of a child receiving an apple at the Loaves & Fishes grocery market. In addition to owning the digital artwork, the winning bidder also receives a beautiful, framed photo of the meaningful piece. The winning bidder can use a credit card, check, or cryptocurrency for payment, as Loaves & Fishes is now accepting payments and donations via cryptocurrency.

Additional items in the silent auction will include a foursome at the prestigious Medinah Country Club, vacation properties, an Apple watch, unique experiences such as a personalized tour and test drive of a Ferrari, a stunning Costello pearl bracelet, and high-end wine. There is something for everyone! Bidding for the silent auction will close on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 10 p.m.

The live auction lineup is exceptional, including everything from a weekend getaway to the fun and fashionable Fulton Market neighborhood of Chicago to a luxury vacation at one of the most desirable estates in Palm Springs, California. Situated on nearly an acre of land, this 6,000 square foot modern estate is sure to be a popular live auction item. Live auction items will only be up for bid on the evening of the event, but interested bidders can provide bids in advance or remotely via text or phone.

"We are excited about the incredible items in our Night to End Hunger auction." Said Mike Havala, President and CEO of Loaves & Fishes. "Your support and participation will make a significant difference in the lives of many who are struggling in our community by providing healthy food and impactful programs to promote self-sufficiency."

All auction winners will be notified after the event and provided with detailed instructions. For additional assistance, contact Nicole Louis, Associate Director Advancement, nlouis@loaves-fishes.org, or (630) 355-3663.
