The orange vests are returning for Elgin Kiwanis Peanut Days Sept. 24

The orange vests are back!

After two years, due to the pandemic, Elgin Kiwanians will once again be selling peanuts at various locations downtown on Friday, Sept. 24, throughout town, including: Highland Avenue and Lyle Street; Summit and Liberty streets; and State Street at the northbound entrance to Route 20.

The Peanut Days fundraiser is the oldest and most important of the club's efforts to aid the less fortunate.

In the coming year, 15 organizations that help area children and families in need will receive grants from Kiwanis, in keeping with the club's mission to serve the children of the world.

Peanuts also can be donated to servicemen and women.

A box of 96 bags of peanuts are available for a $45 donation. A special item this year is a box of 50 bags of gummy bears for a $25 donation.
