Hard to sympathize with billionaire's ad

We are over a year away from the midterm elections and the governor is already rolling out the campaign fodder. My personal favorite ad is the one where he tells us that his father passed away when he was young and left his mother to raise the children alone.

Why is this my favorite? Well, I have a similar story to tell. My mother died when she was just 49 years old. My brother and I were out of the house and married, but my father, who was 53 at the time had a 13-year-old daughter to see through high school and difficult teenage years. A single dad, working-class guy raising a teenager.

You may ask why this story and Pritzker's story are similar? Well, both my dad and J.B.'s mother had a rough road to travel. The main difference is the fact that the governor's mother didn't have quite the struggle. She had a few billion dollars in the bank to see her through this crisis. My dad had no one to assist him.

How did he do? Just fine, but listening to Pritzker cry about his mother's problem makes me simply nauseous. Put that particular ad on the sidelines. It's hard to have sympathy when his family had a fortune to fall back on and get them through.
