Hey Nonny to host gallery of work from music photographer Jim Summaria

In addition to a diverse and impressive lineup of fall concerts, Hey Nonny, the intimate music venue in Arlington Heights, will be hosting a gallery of work from longtime rock photographer Jim Summaria. The event kicks off with an art opening happy hour on Friday, Sept. 10.

Summaria, a lifelong Chicago-area resident, began his career with Chicago rock concert promoter Flip Side Productions at the age of 19. He has photographed virtually every top name in rock music, including Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin, BB King, Judy Collins, Aerosmith, and many more.

"Our mission is to bring exceptional music to our community," said Hey Nonny co-owner Chip Brooks. "Along with that is sharing the legacy of local music history, and few individuals have had a front-row seat the way Jim Summaria has. We are thrilled to share some of his work at Hey Nonny."

Summaria remains active in capturing photos from concerts, but has also built an award-winning career as a commercial photographer. Many of his finest rock n' roll images have been used in special projects by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Grammy® Awards, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Torquay Museum in England. His book of rock photos, "Classic Rock: Photos from Yesterday and Today," can be found online at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Target.

"Our venue offers a great dine-in menu, drink specials, and a wide range of musical acts, so hosting a display of this type extends our brand and provides our clients an even richer experience," said Brooks.

Summaria's show is the third art exhibition at Hey Nonny. Following prior shows by Chicago legend Jon Langford and former Silos frontman Walter Salas-Humara. Summaria's show will remain available for viewing by anyone in Hey Nonny's Bistro room through Oct. 31. No tickets are required and Summaria's photographs are available for sale.

Chicago singer-songwriter Zion Rodman will perform from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 10 during the opening of Summaria's exhibit.
