The orange vests are returning for Elgin Kiwanis Peanut Days
The orange vests are back! After two years, due to the pandemic, Elgin Kiwanians will once again be requesting donations for their annual Peanut Days fundraiser at many locations in town.
On Friday, Sept. 24, look for those vests at many local businesses.
The Peanut Days fundraiser is the oldest and most important of the club's efforts to aid the less fortunate.
In the coming year, 15 organizations that help area children and families in need will receive grants from Kiwanis, in keeping with the club's mission to serve the children of the world.
Peanuts also can be donated to servicemen and women.
A box of 96 bags of peanuts are available for a $45 donation. A special item this year is a box of 50 bags of gummy bears for a $25 donation.
You can use the attached flyer to submit your order. For more information, visit elgin.kiwanisone.org or call (847) 741-3257.
Treat the office to a snack, bring them to a meeting, provide a treat to your customers, or give them out for Halloween.
All proceeds from your contributions stay in Elgin addressing the needs of the youngest neighbors.
There will be no on-street distributions this year.
The 2021 benevolent contributions included: Association for Individual Development, Alignment Collaborative for Elgin, Boys and Girls Club, CASA Kane County, Community Crisis Center, Elgin Math and Science Academy, Elgin Partnership for Early Learning, Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra, Family Services Association, Food for Greater Elgin, Gail Borden Public Library, Well Child Center, Youth Leadership Academy, and Susan Humbracht/ECC Scholarship.
The Kiwanis Club of Elgin has donated more than a million dollars to Elgin charitable organizations in 100 years of community service.
