Ten honored for saving man who collapsed during Libertyville Days
Three Libertyville police officers, six firefighters and a civilian have been recognized for their efforts to save a man who collapsed Aug. 13 during the Libertyville Days festival.
Commendations were presented by Mayor Donna Johnson to those who acted quickly to assist after the man suffered a heart attack near Church Street and Brainerd Avenue.
Volunteer Jeremy Williams saw the man collapse and summoned police working in the area. The man had stopped breathing and advanced life support was administered by paramedics before he was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center for emergency cardiac surgery.
Also commended were fire Lt. Chris Adams and firefighter/paramedics Andy Yarc, Ryan Nowakowski, Cory Conner, Mike Avila and Kyle Lamprich; and police Lt. Ed Swider and officers Walter Rodriguez and David Koshenash.
The man is expected to make a full recovery.
