Mundelein Arts Festival set to celebrate its 10th year
The 10th Mundelein Arts Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 11 and 12, at Kracklauer Park in Mundelein.
Visitors can admire the unique blend of talented fine artists, music, food, and fun each day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The juried show features nearly 40 artists displaying paintings, photography, pottery, wood furnishings, jewelry, fiber, and other handmade items.
Local musicians will perform live music and food will be available for purchase. Admission and parking are free.
The event will kick off with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting by Mundelein Mayor Steve Lentz commemorating the 10th year of the festival. Along with professional artists from the Midwest, many of them local, the Mundelein Arts Festival will also highlight artwork by students from Mundelein High School and Carmel Catholic High School.
With the help of Platinum Sponsors Mundelein McDonald's and Consumers Cooperative Association and Silver Sponsors Great Lakes Credit Union and Amcor Cares, scholarship money will be awarded to students from each school.
The festival will also include a free craft tent for children on both Saturday and Sunday, where they can stop in to create a painted rock of their own.
In celebration of 10 years, the first 500 visitors will receive a free adult coloring book and colored pencils. Food vendors will include Area Coffee, area-coffee.com; and Smokin BBQ, www.smokinbbq45.com. Local musicians will perform music throughout the day.
"We are thrilled to bring back the Mundelein Arts Festival after having to take a year off during COVID," said Christa Lawrence, the founder and event chair of the festival.
"It's hard to believe that this will be our 10th year. It's got quite a following. Some artists and entertainers have participated every year, and fans come specifically to see them."
Kracklauer Park is at 100 N. Seymour Ave. in downtown Mundelein. The show takes place on the pavement for easy access by visitors.
The Mundelein Arts Festival is presented by Mundelein Community Connection and the Mundelein Park & Recreation District.
