The orange vests are returning for Kiwanis Peanut Days in St. Charles

The orange vests are back! After two years, due to the pandemic, St. Charles Kiwanians will once again be requesting donations for their annual Peanut Days fundraiser at 10 locations in town.

From Thursday, Sept. 9 through Saturday, Sept. 11, look for those vests at three Dunkin' Donuts locations, three Starbucks locations, 7-11, Blue Goose Supermarket, and both Jewel-Osco stores.

The Peanut Days fundraiser is the oldest and most important of the club's efforts to aid the less fortunate. In the coming year, 25 organizations that help area children and families in need will receive grants from Kiwanis, in keeping with the club's mission to serve the children of the world.

Peanuts also can be donated to servicemen and women.

Because this year's Peanut Days coincides with the 20th anniversary of Sept. 11, donations are being requested for our first responders - local police and fire departments.

A box of 48 bags of Planters peanuts is available for a $50 donation, and a case of five boxes can be obtained for a $200 donation. A special item this year is a 16-ounce bag of honey roasted peanuts for a $20 donation.

Donations can be made on the club's website, www.kiwanisofstcharles.org, and must be received by Wednesday, Sept. 1.

One-time or monthly recurring donations, without the need for peanuts, also can be made on the website.

The St. Charles Kiwanis Club meets every Tuesday at noon at the Baker Memorial United Methodist Church, 307 Cedar Ave. in St. Charles. The club welcomes new members. Learn more at www.kiwanisofstcharles.org or www.facebook.com/StCharlesKiwanis/.
