Birthday celebration Aug. 23 at Lake County's Dunn Museum

The Bess Bower Dunn Museum in Libertyville will celebrate its namesake's birthday on Monday, Aug. 23.

The museum at the Lake County Forest Preserve general offices, 1899 W. Winchester Road, will be open with free admission and special hours from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The nationally accredited museum is named for Bess Bower Dunn (1877-1959). Dunn was the first assistant probate clerk for Lake County, the first official Lake County historian and one of the area's earliest genealogists. A virtual program discussing her life is set for 11 a.m. Aug. 23.
